I use the Hi-X65 headphones to check every one of my mixes and masters at SkyStudio before sending them to clients.
The excellent low-end and detailed mid-range gives me a clear understanding of how my mix will translate across other speakers. This enables me to keep the communication between clients and myself purely focused on the creative aspect and not ironing out sonic issues that they are hearing on their end.
While the Hi-X65 are the best mixing and mastering headphones we have in the studio, we also have a bunch of Hi-X15 headphones which we use for tracking. On more than one occasion, artists have asked if they could borrow a pair to listen to the mixes we send them at home.
We’re also big fans of the OC818 microphone, of which we have two. They sound great on just about everything we have put them on, and we love the plug-ins, which open up a world of possibilities after tracking. When we do live sound, we love to use them on amplifiers, and we love to put the OD505 mics on vocals. The OD505 on singers are simply smoother and more voluminous than the competition. Austrian Audio mics always deliver that big studio sound, even on stage!
The OC707 has been a favourite when recording vocals in the studio. Every artist that books a session at SkyStudio is welcome to test out all of our vocal mics before they record, and we always make sure the OC707 is part of the line-up. The sound it delivers is both modern and open, without sacrificing any of the voice’s body. We love the microphone’s smooth a pleasing top end.
For acoustic instruments, we love the CC8 microphones. When listening back to recordings, it feels like the instrument is right there in the room with you. They deliver an accurate and honest sound, and simply sound great. We love using them when we record indie bands and songwriters in Vienna.
We can’t wait to see what the engineers at Austrian Audio dream up next.
Our studio is located in the heart of Vienna’s 3rd district and features a generous collection of microphones and analog gear.
