With a best-in-class self-noise of just 13 dB(A) and the ability to handle a staggering 155 dB SPL without distortion, the CC8-SC offers outstanding clarity and an impressive dynamic range. Its focused supercardioid pickup pattern ensures precise isolation of the source while minimizing bleed from surrounding instruments. A subtle roll-off in the highs and lows helps tame harsh overtones and stage rumble at the source – giving engineers a cleaner signal and more creative freedom in the mix.

At the heart of the CC8-SC lies the OCC7 capsule – an acoustic masterpiece, developed and manufactured in-house. It captures even the finest dynamic details and subtle nuances with utmost precision. This high-end capsule delivers a sound that is clear, natural, and uncompromising.
Every CC8-SC is individually measured and calibrated at the factory to within ±0.5 dB sensitivity at 1 kHz. This strict precision means any CC8-SC can be seamlessly match-paired with another, no matter when it was produced — ensuring consistency and reliability for stereo and ensemble recording setups.
After doing some first recordings with my brand new Bösendorfer grand piano I must state that the Austrian Audio OC818s are an upgrade towards the comparable model by any means; acoustically, electronically as well as outstanding software based accessories.
The OC818 and OC18 have become my go-to choice for drum overheads, but I regularly use them on guitar amps and even studio vocals.
