In 1990, as a member of Deee-Lite, TOWA TEI made his debut in the United States with the album ‘World Clique.’ Currently, he has an impressive discography that includes 12 solo albums, 3 albums under the name Sweet Robots Against the Machine, as well as contributions to the album by METAFIVE. In addition, since September 2013, he has been overseeing the music at INTERSECT BY LEXUS – TOKYO, located in Aoyama, Tokyo. He has also composed music for the NHK documentary program ‘Yayoi Kusama: My Eternal Soul.’ In 2018, he played a significant role in the planning, supervising, and designing of YMO’s 40th-anniversary album, ‘NEUE TANZ.’ In 2019, he worked with Tomoo Gokita on the key visuals for Haruomi Hosono’s 50th anniversary documentary film “NO SMOKING” and for “SAYONARA AMERICA” in 2021.
He also worked with Tomoo Gokita on the art direction of Yukihiro Takahashi’s best album “GRAND ESPOIR”. He took on the role of composing the soundtrack for the Netflix animated series ‘SUPER CROOKS,’ with the release of the accompanying soundtrack album, ‘SUPER CROOKS (SOUND TRACK FROM THE NETFLIX SERIES),’ in November 2021. The year 2021 ended with the international release of his 10th album “LP” followed by the release of his album “EP”. On September 6, 2023, he will release the first full-length instrumental solo album titled “ZOUNDTRACKS,” as well as the sequel to their previous LP, “TOUCH,” both simultaneously.
